HH Vancouver Design Challenge Café #2

We’re already half-way to e-Health – the perfect time for another Hacking Health Vancouver Design Challenge café! Join us on Wednesday, May 11th at the UBC Medical Student & Alumni Centre (at 12th Ave. and Heather, near VGH). We’ll catch up, share progress, and hear words of wisdom from an inspiring speaker with clinical, business, and technical perspective on what it takes to turn a great idea into a successful venture!

Peter has established and run a variety of companies – from the early days of electronic publishing, to medical devices successfully marketed in Canada, the USA, Europe and Asia. He has been involved with government organizations, private and public companies, reverse take-overs, venture capital corporations and not-for-profit groups. Peter earned a Ph.D. (Pathology) from the University of British Columbia, and was a Clinical Instructor and Honorary Lecturer at UBC’s Faculty of Medicine. He is currently Adjunct Professor, Beedie School of Business. Peter is also a mentor in entrepreneurship programs for Genome and Life Sciences companies, and a mentor for the SFU Beedie School of Business. He has been an invited speaker at international conferences, holds a number of patents and has received several awards for his work. Peter is also the past Director of Programs at the BC Technology Industry Association, and Executive-in-Residence for health technologies.
Peter Payne frequently speaks about the parallels between science and entrepreneurship. He explains the benefits of applying the scientific method to business concepts plus the social and economic impact of technology on Canada.
