Hacking Health Cafés are monthly events held across various cities to bring together the digital health community. It provides for a casual environment where researchers, clinicians, patients, designers, developers and entrepreneurs can share their experiences, network and learn about the industry.
The goal is to foster relationships between healthcare experts and the technology talent in Waterloo Region. The idea is simple: hackers love to solve problems and the healthcare industry has plenty to go around.

Where will care occur in 2025? While it’s easy to imagine that health experiences will continue to occur in hospitals and offices, new technologies, incredible scientific discoveries, unexpected service providers, and changing human values are creating endless possibilities for the future of health. While no one can predict the future, we can speculate on it. In order to be useful, the predictions we make need to be grounded in today’s drivers of change.
In 2016, Idea Couture published the efforts of a year-long journey to understand how forces affecting change in healthcare may impact the future places and spaces of care. By identifying themes based on changes occurring today, the team imagined what healthcare may look like tomorrow, and in the process, developed a set of principles that healthcare innovators can apply to the work that they’re doing now. The Futures of Health, Places and Spaces of Care is part trend exploration and part design fiction, allowing health innovators to critique possible futures and make important decisions about their work.
In this talk, Idea Couture’s Head of Health will share a series of speculative scenarios on where care could occur and challenge participants to develop their own scenarios about the future of health.
