Hacking the Knowledge Gap: The Gender, Sexuality & Identity Design Jam

February 23, 2018 @ 8:00 am - February 24, 2018 @ 5:00 pm

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Egale Canada, Hacking Health, Rainbow Health Ontario, Cossette Health, and Michael Smith Foundation are partnering to support health research trainees to translate research in the area of LGBTQI2S health and wellness into greater health impacts by employing innovative design thinking methods.

This design jam aims to catalyze collaboration between ten multidisciplinary groups of participants from the Vancouver area, each composed of a combination of researchers, individuals with lived experience and end users, designers, illustrators, healthcare and communications professionals, engineers, mentors, developers, and marketers to address significant knowledge gaps that exist between health research knowledge, clinical practice, and public awareness.

This design jam is a fun, intense, two-day event. It’s a unique and interactive workshop that provides participants with the opportunity to learn design thinking approaches and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders they don’t ordinarily get to work with.
