Nestlé Hackathon

Hacking Health NYC is excited to partner with Nestle Skin Health SHIELD to tackle the fourth most common cause of all human disease – SKIN HEALTH AND WELLNESS. Skin wellness is about more than just disease. Our skin is our largest organ, our interface with the world and our window inside our bodies. If you have an idea and the drive to create real solutions for skin health and wellness,

The SHIELD Skin Tech Hackathon is for YOU!

Win up to $25,000, a work space to develop your solution, and a chance to work with Nestlé Skin Health SHIELD*

Following Challenges Are Presented at the Hackathon:

01 Skin Health Literacy

Life-long skin maintenance, nourishment, and enhancement lead to good skin health and general wellness across your lifetime. The goal for everyone should be life-long skin health.

The challenge: We need solutions to engage, educate, and empower individuals and communities to pursue a lifetime of healthy skin.

02 Nutrition and Skin Health

While we have long understood that there is a relationship between good nutrition and our health, we are still learning exactly how nutrition affects the overall health of our skin.

The challenge: We need solutions to help people integrate skin health-focused nutrition into their daily lives.

03 Engaging Acne

Most of us have had or will have acne at some point in our lives. In fact, the American Academy of Dermatology reports that 85% of all young adults experience at least minor acne.

The challenge: We need solutions that empower individuals to live well and own acne.

04 Skin Healthtech for Aging Population

By 2020, the global population over 60 will reach 1 billion! Technology is playing a vital role for older adults and their caregivers.

The challenge: We need solutions that close the gaps in skin health and accessible in-home skin care for older adults.

HH NYC – SKIN HEALTH DIGITAL COLLABORATORY

Hacking Health NYC is hosting a Kickoff Meetup for an exciting three-part series we’re co-organizing: the inaugural SHIELD SKIN HEALTH DIGITAL COLLABORATORY – LET’S CONNECT AND TRANSFORM SKIN HEALTH!
This Meetup is the first of three SHIELD digital collaboration events and will feature a talk and Q&A with Dr. Warren Winkelman from Nestlé Skin Health SHIELD (Skin Health Investigation, Education and Longevity Development). At this Meetup, Dr. Winkelman will introduce you to the basics of skin health, why it matters to all of us now more than ever, and what the innovation opportunities are for you in this emerging field.

The purpose of the Kickoff Meetup is to gather a diverse group of individuals from the technology, research, health, and business worlds and get you thinking about the potential for a new technology to transform the healthcare landscape by focusing on our largest organ: our skin. Following the Kickoff Meetup, you will be invited to the SHIELD Digital Design Collaboratory, where you will be able to connect in-person with those who are likely to benefit from innovation in skin health and other experts, form teams, and begin planning for the final SHIELD Hackathon event. At the Hackathon, to be held in early 2017, teams will develop and pitch their ideas to a panel of judges. The winning team will be optioned for a year of development support in partnership with Nestlé Skin Health SHIELD.

The SHIELD Skin Health Digital Collaboratory is sponsored by Nestlé Skin Health SHIELD and co-organized by SHIELD, Hacking Health, and the Global Coalition on Aging.
