HH NYC Entrepreneurship Series – Biotech

Hacking Health NYC is continuing to support entrepreneurship initiative started with the Bench to Bedside Initiative. BBI is starting its 12 week seminar series “From Bench to Bedside: Business Fundamentals for Entrepreneurial Scientists”. The program aims to educate scientists from Weill Cornell Medicine, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Rockefeller University about the fundamentals of starting and building a company in the healthcare industry. The end goal is to help these inventors turn their intellectual property into feasible businesses. The program will finish with a Pitch Day event on December 13th in which scientists will pitch their healthcare solutions.

What to Expect:

Please join us for our kickoff seminar on Tuesday, Sept. 13th. We will be featuring keynote speaker from Memorial Sloan Kettering and BBI alumni teams who have successfully formed startups around university inventions. Guest speakers will be:

-Renier Brentjens, MD PhD, Director of Cellular Therapeutics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Co-founder of Juno Therapeutics

-Frank Borchetta, JD, Co-Founder, Repairogen

-Kate Rochlin, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer, Immunovent

-Kevin O’Rourke, MD, PhD candidate, York Avenue Diagnostics

Read More about the startups and guests on the event registration page.

Professionals of all backgrounds are welcome to attend the weekly seminars and meet our participating physicians and scientists. All attendees are encouraged to network with industry professionals and inventors, discover healthcare solutions they might be interested in working on, and join teams to build businesses around patented technologies approved by the Cornell University, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center or Rockefeller University licensing offices.

In May, together with Hacking Health NYC and partner healthcare organizations, BBI successfully piloted a “Commercializing Life Science – Business Matchmaking” event to gather a diverse group of people from academic research, technology, healthcare/medicine and the business communities to address innovation in healthcare. All these efforts lead to the formation of successful and diverse teams that can turn healthcare inventions into feasible businesses.
